This symposium is a unique gathering that bridges the gap between lived experience, advocacy, and policymaking in the realm of transportation. We aim to foster collaboration, share insights, and develop actionable strategies to drive positive change in Evansville.

Through hands-on collaboration, participants will consider how transportation impacts employment, healthcare, and community engagement and create actionable solutions.

• Networking Opportunities: Connect with individuals from various backgrounds, including those with lived experience, passionate advocates, and policymakers.
• Actionable Advocacy: Work collaboratively to create tangible action plans that can jumpstart new movements for positive change.
• Interactive Discussions: Engage in thought-provoking conversations about the intersection of transportation and policy issues, covering vital areas such as: employment, healthcare, and community engagement.

Who Should Attend?
• People with Lived Experience
Individuals who regularly use public transit. These are the people directly affected by transportation policies and can offer insights into the day-to-day challenges they face.
• Advocate (Paid or Volunteer)
Individuals who are actively engaged in advocacy work, either as a paid professional advocate, a volunteer advocate spending a substantial amount of time in policy-related activities, or those whose employment includes advocacy work.
• Policymaker (Elected or Appointed)
Individuals in elected or appointed positions responsible for making or changing policies. This includes officials who have the authority to influence policies at various levels of government in Evansville.

IL also refers to a civil rights movement that advocates for equal participation in community life, and a service system made up of centers for independent living, INSILC, and state partners.
